ahh i thought director was macros movie editor, and quark you dont need to spend the 900 bucks if you intend to be making web sites. it is mainly used to ad layout. dont bother with it for web design.

Yes. Director is not a film making program. We use the program where I work to create software. Mainly promotional materials. It has a timeline (sorta) that looks kinda like how Adobe Premiere functions with its non linear movie editing abilities.

You can export director pieces as shockwave material for online use, but I don't suggest it. Especially not with the ease of use and functionality that Flash MX provides. Flash is definitely the way to go if you want to spruce up a website. I hate Flash's drawing tools though and much prefer to do all my vector work in Adobe Illustrator rather than try to fool with Flash's odd vector handling.

InDesign is better than Quark.

true, in most aspects. But try convincing 8 zillion people otherwise. - Including every single print company in the world !!!!

IMO, InDesign may take off, but it won't be until the Quark CEO runs his company in the ground, which BTW, he's done a pretty decent job of doing in the last 6 yrs or so... I give them 5 more until Adobe buys them and scraps the whole project. Too bad they didn't do that when they bought PageMaker from Aldus. That app just plain sucks. Almost as universally un-accepted as Windows Quark Files, anybody agree?

I seriously hate Pagemaker and I'm a Pagemaker user!

Shame my company only has Pagemaker and Corel Draw and refuses to get anything else for print. Ah well.

If I could do contest winning material in Pagemaker and Corel Draw, I definitely would be epxressing my talent. Making anything cool looking in either program is downright impossible.

We just got Indesign 2 and I have to tell you... As a die hard Quark fan, im slowly converting over to Indesign. The compatibility between Indesign and PS is amazing. You can drag psd files with their layer styles into Indesign and they work exactly as planned... amazing. Plus no more ugly clipping paths.

Im loking foward to get Indesing 2....

I was waitng for Qurak 5 to come out... but I soon realize than they dint had a lot of new tool for print... And I consider a webpage and a printed stuuf to be way to difirent to both get out good on the same tool....

Fell like its Hammer who is suposed to get a good job done with screw :D It will be hard to convice me than both are good!

And Indesign seom to work so much better with photoshop than the choice is more than clear for me... If only most printer could work with it!!! But around here printer seem to understand this...
