What a dumb story. Tech geeks are always so quick to jump on Apple. Bunch of crybabies. I think it's funny. Flat out marketing geniuses, Apple is. The only company that is arguably better is VW's marketing firm - maybe even Budweiser's firm. I read the article on BBC. Those tests didn't take into consideration that there is no way to screen, or test, your market...i.e. not everyone who sees the G5 commercials gives a rat's a$$ about whether or not a PC is called a workstation vs. a personal computer, nor do they give a crap about the other technology jargon. Apple made their point. They have a damn fast computer, and I think it's now recongnized as such. I don't plan on launching an investigation against Carl's Jr. because their $6 burger is only supposed to cost $4, and it comes up to $6.25 after you get fries and a coke. It's just fine print. Take it from me - I work in Advertising and I live in Advertisingland - For example... "voted best in vegas" is used on EVERYTHING. What they don't tell you is that it was in 1992, not 2004 - and they don't need to tell you that it came from a comment card in their coffee shop. Doesn't make it false advertising. Damn close, but whatever it takes to get butts in the seats of their casinos & restaurants, they don't care. It's a cutthroat industry, no holds barred. Comments on the iPod deal - yeah, that sucked. I have one, too - still works okay, but it's kind of like waiting for the other shoe to drop... here's what I THINK happened. Apple rushed the development of the iPod, because they wanted to be first - and it paid off. Sure, it could've used another year of development, but screw that, they said - and now they're the king of that market. |
