ok so most of you know that i'm not to good with inline things but i'm trying to build a website and going good so far. i'm almost done but my real worry is the web hosting i've tested my site on geocities but i hate geocities and how you have to make it as your index or upload the file and it be something like this

http://www.geocities.com/afguy91506/benssite.swf

that whole link and all (that link is just my intro...)

but i want a real host where i can make it like "www.LFTY.com" or something so anyone know any good web host cheap*** web host's like maybe around $30 a year at most...

My 2 favorites: www.insiderhosting.com and www.mediatemple.net
I have been using insider since this last summer or something like that and love them. Mediatemple has a great reputation. For a few dollars more it's nice to know that your site(s) will be running 24/7, and the db won't be buggy. If you plan on getting clients, it's better to know for sure your site(s) will be up, rather than getting nasty emails all the time from your clients.

I'm with insiderhosting as well and have had 0 problems with them. I have over 120 domains on my account between me and my dad's sites/clients, and haven't had a single problem. plus we only pay $25 a month for all of that!

i dont see the link in resorces but...... www.webhostingtalk.com

$30 a year

your going to have to triple that or expect lousy service. You get what you pay for.

well i was going plug my host...but figured i'll just leave it out for now....turns out its been plugged twice....as im also with insiderhosting. Also tech support seems to be really good (also quite patient)!!

You are better off using a paid hosting, even if it is cheaper. There are tons out there at $5-$6 a month. www.dot5hosting.com has plans like that. But, like someone said earlier, you get what you paid for. They offer lots of service which if all their clients used, they wouldn't be able to keep their servers up - aka over selling. But, their prices are low. Companies like insider and mediatemple don't target clients who want 500 megs with 100 gb bandwidth a month for $5, because that isn't realistic. They rely on prompt and learned tech staff that keep them servers going, and also proper hardware.

But $5 a month is quite doable and if you aren't taxing your server or the db with a lot, it should be fine.

I was using Hostradius, which went to Insider Hosting, so yep, they are very reliable.
