god damn it! I need one, now give it to me!!!

ok, now that I've got that out of my system, try helping me out with this.

I'm gonna buy a wacom, but I wanna make sure I don't buy some piece of crap. Only problem is, I don't know anything about wacom's... I just want one! :D

So I'm looking for something affordable, but still something good...

What would you recommend???

I've been looking at this -> http://www.wacom-europe.com/uk/products/graphire2/index.asp Might be good, but what do I know?

From what I heard every wacom is good, it really all depends on the way or reasons you will be using it that you choose your side. This is what I hear, so I may be wrong, just my little tidbit.

If you need a lot of real estate to work with, get something big. I have the smaller Wacom and it suits me fine. Sometimes I get frustrated with the size, but for the most part I am happy. It wasn't worth the extra money for me.

I have the 6x8 intuos 2 and it is great. but another friend that does a whole lot more digital painting than me has the really big one. And some people don't mind the Graphire, just depends on what you wanna spend.

You'll probably be safe with a Wacom. The problem with a lot of the other brands that you have to be careful about is that the cheaper one's general suck in that your pen won't keep up with your actual speed. The cheap one's a lot of the time lag even if you fiddle with the pen sensitivity and everything. Wacom is pretty darn acurate. Personally I've never had a problem using them and I haven't heard anything negative about them.

... and I like the little cheap one better than the bigger ones, mostly because I like to take it home with me on weekends, etc. - Really, I didn't see any diff. in the graphire and the 6x8 - save your money, IMO.

I'm gonna buy it. From all I read about it, it should be good...

Thanks for the comments!

It's only money.

People are talking about 2 different Wacoms. There is the Intuos2 line (?professional grade?), and Graphire line (hobbiest). Graphicsguy is a professional graphics artist though, and he uses the Graphire. I'm a wannabe and I have a Intuos2... so basically buy whichever one you can afford--you'll love it, mostly because it's yours.
