One thing i noticed and its nothing bad. The entire image is black and white except the ants eyes which in my opinion draws yours eyes to them. Maybe thats the whole idea and thats what you wanted but thought i'd just throw my comment in.

Nah, perhaps a li'l, b'cuz the entire pic is about practising selections on my part, I suck at those. And the eye's is just that and I through in some blue in order to show that eyeselection...The hole ant is another and the kids is a third, wich by the way was a 4x5 cm colored pic from the start.

Selection around the kids is Ok as for me ... The wallpaper works well: perhaps try a more colorfull one now ? Dunno if my experience is valuable but back to my first photoshop works I was worried about selections too. I spent lot of time trying to select properly, then found a tutorial about masks, learnt how to select perfectly. Then I realised that even with a 1 px accuracy over a selection, the final result was all in the background / selected & pasted foreground incrustation. Learned that too, spent hours selecting things and pasting it into the right backgrounds. Then I forgot about it and tried to do something else. I realised lately that selections aren't a problem anymore. At all. I was wondering why and realised that if something is not easily selected, I just hide it. Hide it on the top of the picture, with a blur, with the clouds filter, with something else I put on the top of the picture. Recently I had to select sharply ('wallpaper for an oriental friend' that I posted here), and realised I didn't do it for ages. I selected properly half of my target then just moved it to the left to make the non selected part disapear. I think that except if you have to do pictures for your jobs, you dodge any problem like this. Even if avoiding problems is definitely not good, try it sometimes: the final result looks as good, and you have free time for more pics. Sorry for this blabla, just felt like sharing this. |

Foxtrot, That wasn't just jibberish to me. It made some sense actually. I could attack the problem when it occurs and do some developing of other "skills" during time passing. Otherwise I somehow get stuck here, searching for the perfect selection. By this I don' mean that selecting isn't important, 'cuz it is in my mind. Even I, with my lack of experience, have seen awful examples of so called selections...And I hate that I would do such a poor job. So what I'm blabbing about here is...Thx Fox, it was thoughtful. |
