I don't have an example to show, but what I am looking to do is create a hose that is perspective. I'm a firefighter and designer/creator of our department web site. I've been creating some digital art and other stuff for the site, so, I want to create a fire hose that looks like it's laying on the ground and coming at my viewers. But I don't want it to be "straight". I want it to curve and twist like a real hose would. If you have suggestions, ideas or tutorial sites, I am MORE than open to ideas at this point.

No, unfortunately I don't. To be honest, I'd never even heard of it until I got back in to designing and looking for some digital art ideas. Pretty powerful I assume?

well any 3d program would do it very easily (cinema4d, 3d studio max) but they are quite expensive if all you are going to be doing is making a hose. Does the hose have to look realistic? If not you could create a series of "paths" using the pen tool (assuming you have photoshop) to get your shape. Then just add colours/textures and all the other little knick knacks that make the hose. Hope i was of some help. |

Well, that's what I ended up doing. With PS-6, I created a curved path and then STROKE with about 16 pixels. With that layer selected, created a new layer, expanded the selection by about 10 pixels, filled it with the same color, then a fairly heavy Gaussian blur. Then just took the color of the hose I needed and did the same thing. It didn't turn out too bad. Thanks for all the help! |

ok, here is the deal, I know how to work it out on paper, you always got to have 2 start points where you lines go out. but its hard to explain though but Im sure you can find tutorials on the net...

Make the path, copy it, and move it over some. Then make the farther points closer together, the closer points farther from the other side's. Complete the shape, and fill it. That will give you something. You could also make your hose as if perspective has been lost, then use Free Transform to add it again... |
