At the risk of sounding like an @ss, it doesn't really look like a logo. It looks more like a poster. If you were to try and put this on a business card or brochure, it would almost need to be there by itself, without the person's name/title, address, phone etc, because it's so spread out. Any text you would add would have to be *really* tiny to provide contrast to the text used for the company's name. If this were on a business card by itself on one side and the contact info on the other side of the card, it might be OK. On the side of a van by itself it might be OK too.

But it just doesn't seem to stand out all that much and strike me very favorably. The hand seems really big and doesn't add much strength to the name and brand of the company.

Let me ask you this... how many versions of this logo did you make before you decided on this one? When I designed my logo, I did 6 and had people vote on which they liked which narrowed it down to 3 choices. Then I actually made mock business cards using all 3 winning logos and it was only *then* that it became clear which one actually looked like a logo on the business card. They are here if you want to look... http://www.daveforedesign.com/images/final_6_gif.gif (number 4 was the only one that maintained it's strength and integrity when it was actually put on a business card).

If you haven't done any other versions of this logo, I would do at least 2 more that are *totally* different. Then go ahead and make up some mock business cards and brochures and see which one looks the best on them.

If you already have other final versions of this logo that are different, you should post them to get more feedback. Maybe the best choice would be a combination of elements from your other designs? You never know. Never hurts to let people vote either to see what's most popular.

I'm not trying to slam your work, it just seems like you could take it a few more steps before you make a final decision.

Just my constructive criticism...

i have worked on 8 diff designs for this till me and co-designers went through and chose the fav of all, the Caterer (i guess you would call him) chose th hand one, he wrote out a description of ideas for a logo, he came up with a hand with wand and sparkles, (don't ask) that's what he wanted i just wanted to see what people thought of the simple design, Mainly this design if for the side of his van, i just had to size the file down to get some feedback.

Well I completely understand having to do it the way the client wants. So as long as *they* are happy, then it's a success on your end.

Please redirect my comments at the Caterer instead!

Just how do you design for the side of a van? Do you have to do it in Illustrator so it can be scaled up later to a huge size? Or did you make the canvas huge to begin with and then work zoomed out really far? What resolution do you use? I'd be interested to know how the whole process works!

Please do it in Illustrator. From a printing company's point of view, and for the sake of your final output quality - I repeat- PLEASE USE VECTOR ART.
If you must work in photoshop, scale it mathematically from your desired measurement. In other words, create it at 25% scale at as high of a resolution as possible, so it can be printed at a 25%lower resolution, for example, thus, increasing final output size.

Yeah i dont really like it... for one it is kinda goofy looking. and remember when you are making a logo... it has to be scaled way down to fit on a business card. so im thinking those stars and stuff around the letters will start to seem connected to the letters and make it really hard to read. just remember that it must be legable on a business card when you make a logo

i used 400 Resoultion on it, i didn't have illustrator but the company i work for has connections with the printing company so once i send them the graphic/design they do what they can to get it to work the way the want it, as far as business cards go and stuff like that this graphic wasn't intended for that purpose they have a logo already for that, I designed this graphic the way the client wanted, i didn't care for the hand and wand / sparkle thing either, but in this business you must please your customers.

Nice effect, but the hand looks a bit rough. The wrist is coming out of the image, but the cuff appears to be flattened onto the plane of the image (it does not look very round).

Since I would think the wand to be thicker compared to the hand, I would scale down the hand and shorten (not make thin) the wand, then move it closer to the text, which would also allow a better business card placement (at the top, with business information below it). I do not know much about business cards, though...
