Advise please...

I'm creating a website (emohawk.net). I'm hoping it's going to be fairly popular, so I want it to obviously look good...

This was the first design I tried, but the idea got thrown out the window. Ok for a homepage, but doesn't look too professional:

This I liked, but it didn't seem to go well with the idea that was starting to develope in my mind:

This is the current idea I'm working on, and need advice about:

I personally like the "banner" and the background colour, but it's the buttons or the link area's that I'm not sure about...

Is it too much of the same colour?
What colour scheme looks best (1,2,3,4) for the link area?

I'm really having problems, cause I've reached this far and have just stopped :( Any advice will be greatly appreciated :D

i like the last one the most, but maybe you should make your banner some better, cos it's boring
