You asked for it cable. So here's my 'embelishing'. I was an architecture major for one semester at the Univ of Fl. Top 10 school in the nation for architecture. Basically, the professor never chose my stuff to be looked at, yet when I critiqued someone else's stuff, their models//drawings would always be looked at. Even though my stuff was never looked at, I'd say I probably learned the most out of anyone in the class. Not to say no one else learned anything, but I learn pretty fast. Looking back at it, they were teaching the class abstract thinking of how spaces intersect and interact, and how you can put them together to make an idea. What I liked about #4 was that the lines blended seemlessly together like a total idea. They intersected very well. Architects think about design all the time. How you design something well is a combination of training, experience, creativity, and a few abstract/fundamental concepts. I would say one of these concepts is making something flow from itself. The original #4 did that. I just liked it a lot. That's all. As for the ultimate payment for doing graphics, I think it depends what your goal is. You don't want someone staring at your graphic forever. I do these complicated as hell logos(takes like 2 hrs), then show it to people. They give it say a '7'/'10'. I do this simple, 'sharp' graphic(takes like 15 minutes), and they all love it. 9's and 10's. It's very funny to me. However, artwork I think is different(3-30 hrs of time). Just because you want them to look at it forever. Let them rot on the couch admiring the beauty. haha. None of my artwork is architectural, so don't look for 'spaces'. However if you do want to see a 3d game map design(3 hrs) I made, here it is: www.dartgraphics.com/Sprintv5.jpg Name of map: Sprint. That particular map is getting mapped by a friend of mine and will be used for TFC(HL mod). As for my website: www.dartgraphics.com Thx for your time to read thru all this, Christopher Perkins ps. redoing website. Much thx to everyone who critiqued my website, and told me the principles of making a website. Much thx to them. |

Thanks for all of the input guys. Between the different forums I subscribe to and friends and Colleagues I had look at these logos, I got about 150 opinions. Numbers 2, 4 and 6 were picked almost evenly as the winners with number 2 getting the slight edge. So at least 1, 3 and 5 were out and to be honest were my least favorites. But what ultimately made me decide on one was to start creating business cards, envelopes and letterhead mock-ups. After tinkering with each of the 3 winning logos on these documents it became *clearly evident* that two of them just didn't look right as logos anymore. They looked great next to all of the other logos and great on the monitor screen. But when it came down to it, number 2 lost it's feel and elegance and looked out of place on the business card and number 6 just didn't have it's same appeal on any of the ducoments. Even a few of the folks who were *dead set* on 2 and 6 said they didn't like them once they saw them on the business documents and agreed that number 4 looked the best now (the redesigned 4 without the letter *A* appearence). I actually was leaning towards number 6 myself, but the business document mock-ups made it painfully clear that number 4 *looks* like the strongest *logo* of the bunch. So thanks to everyone for their opinions and time in helping me choose one. This was a great learning process for me! |

I'm a novice designer, but I'm leaning towards #2. It's a subtle hint to your creative eye and just says a lot for it to be "only" a logo. If not #2, then I'm going with #6. It's well-framed. . . ~halojawn Coldfinger Solutions |
