I've been reading several tutorials and this is a combination of them. I think there's more I can do with it and I'm open to suggestions.

It's basically a lot of the Plastic Wrap filter (under the Artistic menu) and radial blurs. What do you think?

Ok I've been tweakin it some more and here's what I got:

v1.0

v1.0a

v2.0

v2.0a

v2.0b <---probably the best one

v2.0c

There's not too much variation between them, if I had uploaded the regular .jpegs I saved (as opposed to these which are roughly 1/4 the size) you might be able to see the differences better. What do you think?

It's all good though, cause all these pics do is sit on my desktop, I just post here to see if I can improve them. I think it looks pretty slick, though I think I'll make the background a little darker and maybe tweak the text a little.

never use plastic wrap. Or lensFlare. Ever. Thanks.

I must disagree, these filters, like all filters , are tools, the tools itself does not make anyone a newbie, its the way u use them...

I have to agree than the use of plastic wrap is sometime an act of a newbie, but in this case they where used in a good way.

In the hand of the inexpirenced the best tool will not give a good results. But in the had of a skilled man any tools can give a good results... (by the way this is from me...)

Comming back to the subject of this thread... Nice work, it look really smooth! And the ligthing is pretty good!

Thanks. Thats the way I see it too, if you take the filters from PS isn't it just a glorified MS paint?

I don't really use lens flare a lot either, but I used to be obsessed, and I never even looked at the Plastic Wrap until I saw this tutorial at ps workshop (I think that's the site). Anyway I got no problem with Paavo cause at least he didn't come like "well you suck cause I dont like blue" or some bullsh*t like that, but what you got agains PhotoshopCafe?

I don't use PS that much anymore, I've been trying to learn 3ds max and maya unlimited.

I think I've settled on the final version after some more fooling with the background and text. There are 2 versions. There isn't much difference between them, just how the text is highlighted:

Just my opinion but for some reason, I'm not liking how the text seems *hidden*. Seems like it should be more in the foreground or at least stronger in appearance. Afterall, it's the primary focus within the graphic, right? If it's not, then get rid of the text altogether and just have a nice wallpaper. Otherwise, make the *subject* of this image, the text, more pronounced.
