people have been telling me I use too much filters....ok I accept the challenge cuz I agree there .....(still liked my elf-like thingy though)

Now that I think is a helluva lot better than your elfish thingy. You pulled off the grunge effect very well and the colors are nice. Generally people use too many filters, it's sort of a habit. K.I.S.S: keep it simple stupid.
I remember on one occassion someone with a few blurred lines and text with a simple, but elgant color scheme beat everyone else's images in a contest.

The second one is much better...Filters aren't a bad thing...But just because you have a paintbrush doesnt mean you should paint your whole house neon green...If that made any sense...heh

When you talk 'bout filters this way, is it just 3:d party filters or native aswell ?

not about 3rd party at all.... cuz I have PS 7 now and the only good 3rd party filters aren't compatible....

all filters are cool...there an extension of photoshop, tools to help get certain desired effects....yay for filters!
