My only problem is with the man's dark shadow. Both of his feet are touching the ground, yet both of his legs are bent. His white figure appears to be walking, yet his dark shadow looks like he's slightly crouching down.

NOA: I know exactly how you feel, sure i hardly ever post at all. Mattboy; Damn, i was hoping noone would notice that. It's very hard when you have an image that large (the spike extend upwards for a while!) to manipulate whatever you're tring to move (the figure) in wireframe mode...And plus, you have to create a camera too, so your editor camera has to move all around this big assed thingy to try and find this white tiny figure. The reflections of the figure are however, correct but the figure itself just has to be moved slightly up a few pixels but that would take another 3 hours rendering! I got it printed on A2 and if you turn it upside down, it looks tlike the reflection is trying to get away from whatever it is the white guy is walking towards (up to you to decide) Now that i think of it, i might as well perfect the image and move the wee man around. Thanks everyone, wow, i haven't had a response like this in ages! PSNuklehead:Erm, no that's 3D (cinema 4D) ;) |

yeah, render times suck... BTW, may i ask how did you learn Cinema 4d? i just have received my copy, and all i am doing now is just trying out some tutorials and stuff... did you do something else? But just keep on posting images, the critique or suggestions that you'll receive will only make you better! |

*NL*... Ooh, how did i learn c4d...let me see. Well as soon as i got it i did the tutorial in the manual, the whole book is a tutorial! Then i played around with modelling, decided it was too hard and modelling with your hands is a heck of a lot easier! Then i was animating, bring the camera through vortexes and around objects, and then i was playing with caustics (say if you have a glass on the table on a sunny day, caustics are the light particles which refract causing a sort of distorted light beam on the table) and animating lights and stuff. Then i played with probably the coolest feature, metaballs, the thing that creates the globs of mercury or water. And now i'm playing with the object deformers, eg. 'shatter' is used a lot in the image i just ported. C4D is such a great program, and i really just use it to have fun, it's really great. Start wherever you want to, but doing the tutorial is a great start as they tried to pack the whole prog into one tutorial. Hope that helps, and have fun! |

yeah i've read a bit in the book... but i want to make cool stuff right away! :D Just as with photoshop, i just did some online tutorials... after that i start to fool around myself. Guess that's what i should do with cinema 4d too. The first time i used photoshop i didn't know where to start...! Exactly as now with cinema 4d. Too bad there isn't a filter menu i can abuse... ;) |

Oh no, there is! In the render settings, there is a section (forgotten name of it) where you select which part of your 3D compostion you want to put onto layers in a .psd! It's a kick ass feature...So basically, if you pick 'Lights' as well as the other major features in your comp, and then save as a .psd, all your layers are split up into 'light'....etc. therefore, you can move around the light in photoshop itself...or abuse the filter menu! |
