Well I don't know if any other people besides us kiwis this word but I will do my best to try and clear up what it means for you sidefx.

Ok here we go. hehehe

"Aye" can have many different uses
Example 1:

lets say you are confused about a question, instead of saying "what" or "uhhhh" you could say aye and drag the word on a bit by saying Ayyye.

Example 2:

PS6UsEr used "Aye" in the following sentence:
That looks good man, nice work. What do teachers know "aye"

He was stating his view and asking for yours by adding "Aye" at the end.

Translation/suggestions:
That looks good man, nice work. What do teachers know, "right"

Example of aye in a question:
"That image looks good aye"

This is asking a person if they also like the image.

Aye is often used at the end of a sentence once you have stated your view on something or if you are confused.

Of course like any good slang word there are more meanings, but these are just the basics to get you understanding the word aye.

God, I have far too much time on my hands.

Cool.... I'll add that to my personal dictionary.

I'm considering going to Australia for further studies, do they use the word too?

Aye, they even have it up here in Canada.

We use aye sometimes too here in the north. Not as much as "eh" though. Eh is a better word.
