I did these a long time ago, they are from pencil sketches from a concept artist from the game Age of Mythology..

They were all done with the mouse, usually the face was detailed the most to bad I had to crop it so much. So plz comment :D

*edit: mayby if you want some info on the game:go here

Coloring with a mouse is really hard, the faces where actually easiest because they're smaller spaces with a lot of detail. It's easier because you don't have to make long strokes with the mouse. That's why the arms didn't work out.
I found a detail shot of the face of the giant.

nice job with those, the first one's head really stands out, highlights on the hair and nose fit great, it just seems like those same kind of highlights weren't used anywhere on the rest of him like the arms or something (seems like his arms and legs are just one solid tone), nonetheless it still looks great.

No, don't have one, but I'm really thinking of buying one together with a scanner. I started drawing this year as well. Not with lessons, but just in class and in the evenings. It's really funny how it's working out. At the start of the year I could hardly draw a stick figure, now faces starting to work pretty good, in my own style it's fun, especially when you know you're improving.

I want one, I even have more than enough money (I could buy and Intuos 2 if I wanned to), but I'm always picky about spending money, I'm always thinking I'm gonna regret it when I buy one and that I'll wast a lot of money when it doesn't work out.

Yea told you about the arms, I didn't really knew how to put the highlights and shadow, and with the mouse it got a little messy. The first stands out more because I started with it and then got a little sloppy. I really like armor pads and belts of the third one as well.

I have a wacom intuos (the first one not intuos 2) and it works great, just I don't use it as much as i thought i would, bought it with the same intentions of drawing and coloring with it. Its great to have though even if your not working on a drawing its helpful to use when u have to manually airbrush or paint something for say an interface in PS or something along those lines. (we all know mouses are cumbersome when it comes to stuff like this). I think You could probably get the intuos at a little less of a price now that the intuos 2 is out, and intuos is great, in PS u can have it take control of the opacity and/or size and somethin else that i never used...can't remember what it was, like color or shape or somethin. The pen does have tilt sensitivity too I just wish photoshop would take advantage of it (with the airbrush especially) but it doesn't.
