I've been hacking at this header for a couple of weeks, trying to get the right flow. Thought I would offer it up for critiquing. A friend of mine has a record/dj supply shop in town, and he asked for assistance with his site... I have three variations: one two three It's what I have so far...not really finished with any of them. The first one is actually the first rough draft (don't know why I'm posting it, but there it is none-the-less), and the 2nd one is the latest. what do/don't you like? Thanks for your time! |

I like the third the best. Parts of it are a bit pixelated though. |

I also like the Thrid Version. But the way the Text "decibel records" is displayed, is kind of bland.

Third version ... but I'd loose the glow ... perhaps a "dull" 1px bevel ... looks very sweet overall

hmmm... the third one, eh... right on! I've showed the same designs to friends here and they would agree with you. My favorite is actually the 2nd one, but maybe because I did it last. I was tired of the soft blue in the original and wanted more of a 'party' atmosphere. That's totally cool though. Like I said I'm not done with any of them really, so maybe I'll find a way to mesh them together... Another thing. About the jagged lines, how do I get them clean and crisp? I've tried several different methods, but to no avail. Should I start with a higher resolution? I did all three at 72dpi. Thanks for your insights, I appreciate it! |

i like the first one personally, but i also like the third. maybe if the third didnt have that dark outline and the sillouhettes(sp?) where a different colour, similar to the blueish colour. I also think lose the glow on the words. my little 2 cents: see if you can try to portray more of a musical look, its kinda graphical and 3d-artish. maybe change those poked out 'brick' thingys to an equalizer or something and add an oscilliscope maybe through the bottom lines or something.

I like the first one, but you should refine it and work it a bit, to get it just right. I think it's my on personal taste of the colours that is pushing me toward the first one. THe other two are just not my style. You should pick the one that is closest to your style. And a gut feeling is usually right
