Hey! It's been a while since I've been on this forum, so I thought I'd check in... This is a graphic I've been working on, and my main idea is to have it work as the main page for my companies web site. As it is now, it's just a wallpaper, but when I'm done it will have a navigation system and java open.window(s) and all that good stuff. But for now, I'd love any comments on the image itself: said image (1024x768) same image (800x600) and if you want to DL as a wallpaper for your desktop, feel free!! thanks, john |

I like the blurry thing on the left. I don't like the moon or the thing in the lower right. The thing on the left looks much more elegant, and then you have that square boxy bevelled thing. I think it would look better with just the left thing. That's just me though.

Yeah you had it with the left images, the planet and the rest don't look so good. I like the looks of your index.html. Very nice. |

thanks for the honesty! I see what you mean, and to tell you the truth, I really don't like the left graphic or the moon...just the square on the right! I think I was trying for an idea and it didn't work that well. But that's cool, because I value your opinions. I think I'm going to trash that idea and focus on the design that I had originally styled, which is the index.html that Czak had refered to. Maybe there is some way that I could incorporate the soft images on the wallpaper with this site design. Thanks again for the critique! |

I really like the right image in the index page, but then you go and cut it up and add those links.. You've got some spaces in your table code and some border issues. http://64.180.171.247/uro/pages/john.html Played around with it a little, in IE the images should fade in and out when you mouse over them. The right one is a little strange though. Really like the little forest in your sig and in the page. |

Oh, another suggestion, use relative links instead of absolute ones. Makes it easier to move things around to different servers and things.

Thank you so much!!! Czak, I can't tell you how much that means to me! I'm new to HTML (obviously), and don't have many people I can go to locally to point me in the right direction. I have been struggling with how to get it to look right on more than just my browser (I'm on a Mac using IE5, which it looked from my end, but I knew I had issues with Netscape and other browsers; didn't notice any mouse over action when I tried your link). I will definitely be studying your code to see where I went wrong! I have an HTML 4 book around here somewhere. Couldn't find it while I was making this site, though...probably would have helped. I love that image on the right as well! It's my favorite thing to come out of this project. On top of learning HTML, I'm also digging into QuarkXpress, Photoshop (of course), and Final Cut Pro, so it's a little hard for me to focus! Thanks again!! |
