new logo survey/critique

k guys. need your help. I am trying to do a logo for myself. I have the hardest time doing stuff for myself because i never end up liking the final product, no matter how much other people like it. so, I want you guys to tell me which of these 2 logos you like better, and WHY please. I need good reasons for either of them. Remember, these aren't finals by any means, so if you think certain placement, colors, whatever might help, shoot it my way. And I know they arent perfect, so just look at them the way they are and kinda how you think they should be. Thanks guys,

First one. It has a nice simple design. The second one is bizzare and dosen't look right.
