As I was walking down the street I shot a few weird angle shots, here are the results:

There is this museum, right next to where I live... This week there was a luxury yacht right next to it. I went down and took some photos.

This last photo is more of an experiment. I went down the stairway and took a photo on each floor, from the same position. What you see is the balcony on each floor, with different lighting and stuff.

Your street shots are interesting subject matter; the lighting didn't help you much. I don't care for the lighting.

Editorial note: the english spelling is Yacht http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?book=Dictionary&va=yacht&x=0&y=0

Lighting on the first yacht shot again left me yearning for better conditions. The night shot is great! You are always good at night shots, NL. Looks like a slight focus or depth issue on the night shot, noticibly at the bottom of the boat; but overall still the best shot. The panorama is fun--are you manually editing these panos? The contrast of the old ship and the yacht is stark--excellent! I wish you'd done some more playing with the contrast between these two; if you did post them!

Heya Dan,

I know about the lighting, the last few days it has been pretty overcast... :(
The yacht (thank you! I edited the thread title) is leaving today, so I can't wait for better lighting conditions, regretfully. Now if I had a better camera + lens, I might produce some better shots. I'll see if I'm able to re-do the other shots, when the sky isn't as grey.

This is the first panorama I didn't edit myself completely. I used panorama factory, then cleaned it up in photoshop. I'm very happy with the results of the program so far!
I indeed played with the contrast between the new and old ship some more, I'll see which of those shots are worth uploading and then post them here.

*edit* I found three I think are worth posting.

Again, the lighting didn't help me.

Same, but I think the composition is pretty strong.

Here is the contrast between old and new, and it was a bit later in the evening... so the sky turned a bit orange/red-ish. Could be better, but yeah.

yay, new photos!

Great angle and composition. I like how all the lines of the building go in the same diagnal, even the ones in the fan or what looks like a huge fan :D
I mad eit in B&W in photoshop btw, and it looks great as well... something to consider. Only bad thing is the reflexion of that other building in the glass, but you couldn't avoid it anyway.

AWESOME! Just beautiful! It defenitely looks like a magazine image. Those vertical and horizontal lines, the contrast in the tones of the building and the reflexion of the cloud in the windows make this a very powerful photograph. The subtle blur is also great. Finally, you have a nice perspective, it gives a nice imposing aspect to the building... it makes me want to practice more my architecture skills!

Cool centring there, I like doing that kind of thing myself.

I love panoramas and you're good at it. I would have maybe play with the curves to give the clouds more of a "natural" white colour, while keeping the darker atmosphere of the scene.

Like I said, it's a great photo. For that old/new contrast, it's the best picture that acheive it. Personal opinion:There's maybe a little bit too much sky, because it's a plain white sky, so you don't need all of this... but I don't know...

Sweet ambiance!! The warm colours are subtle, but so nice. The bird adds a ncie touch too.

BTW, did you go on that quay we can see in the panorama? Because I think it would have been a great angle to take the boat.

That's nice. You should have put them without a white broder between each though, since the photos are pretty dark, it makes it harder to see the details in them.

Good stuff!

I still promised better photos of the yacht.
On the last day it was in Amsterdam me and my girlfriend went down to take some photos.

Here you see my girlfriend waiting for the yacht to make a move:

We waited and waited. and even got some bored so I decided to photograph the weird looking building behind me:

When we were about to leave, this waterbird came and checked us out... I guess he wanted to sit on our spot:

When it left, this is what we saw:
