I made these two pictures about 6 months ago as a logo for a fantasy site I was going to make, called Taufr.
Pic 1 With runes
Pic 2 Without runes.
Taufr is norse and means something like Magical Talisman and was used by the vikings.

I guess this description is more accurate: a taufr [talisman] of silver or polished brass (such a taufr can either be a piece of jewelry or a flat piece of metal with runes graven on it

The other thing is that i need to have "Taufr" in writings somewhere on the pic.. .any good suggestion how i should do it, cause all my attempts were crappy.

They look good. I like the first one better. I'm still not sure exactly what a taufr is, so I can't suggest anything there....

good work on the textures ... border looks more celtic than enything else ... i lurve than gemstone in the middle (looks a bit like smoky quartz) ... difinately belongs on a fantasy site ... the runes look like something out of a tolkein novel ... *runs to look in a copy of "The Hobbit"*... in fact it is ... *rummages through desk to find the deciferred Tolkein alphabet* ...clockwise from the rune looking like an arrow pointing up spells " TOLFRDOC"... hhhmm... interesting ... post up the site when ur done ... will be sure to check it out ...

Hehe... thanks..

Well the border looked like some dragon pattern carved in wood, which i saw in the viking ship museum of oslo. It could be celtic to, I'm no expert. I stole the pattern from a web site (i am very sorry :o ), but i don't remember where it was.

Well i'm no expert with runes either. I downloaded a anglo-saxon-runes-font and pushed t-a-u-f-r-c-o-m. Just for fun to see how it looked.

Site would be interesting... The one with runes looks better. You might try putting a runes-style font on there with the name of your site. That would make the title there and the runes.

Site would be interesting if we only could start working on it...

U know of any Rune-style font? If u wonder what kind of font i used to, then here is the name of it (cause i don't remember where i got it): Anglo Saxon Runes

Btw, the picture was made in Photoshop 6.0.

Thanks for all the feedback. My second question is... do you have any good suggestion on how I could include the text "Taufr" on the picture. I have tried a couple of things but they all look so boring.

So if any of u have a good suggestion on how i should put in a logo, please answer.

Thank you.
