Yeah - I figured I'd make something for my my zodiacal maniacal girl The LC always watches crappy astrology shows on TV and allthough she says she doesn't really believe it - I have my suspicions. The model for this particular astrolabe was invented by a german guy about 400 years ago. I love astrological charts and zodiac art in general - the old kind - before astrology and astronomy split ways. I also love Buck Rogers stuff. So I figured I'd combine the two. Hope it turned out palatable. Don't ask me how the thing works - I have no ideea - I just love weird machines. What I know: the yellow round shape with "wings" in the upper middle is the moon and phases. The latin writings say "Umbra Vespa" - meaning "shadow of the moon" or "moon phases" "scala altimetra" - well - pretty much as it sounds - "altimeter scale" "Astrolabvs BuckRogerii" would be in pig latin "Buck Roger's astrolabe" the link too - here goes and for anyone interested - an outlines view |
