There was a storm...again...and lightning lightning1 lightning2 no comment on the artistic quality...do you know how hard it is to catch a lightning with a digital camera? the responsetime sucks...and it was cold and my lens was rained on...but I got 2! yay |

That 2nd image is kinda sexy. Ive been trying to get lighting for a while......but in the last 10 storms we've had no strikes...all sheet lighting which looks like crap in an image. I only got 1 strike last year.....which is so weak its barely visible :-(. And yeah....response time sucks. Usually in a "good" storm.....I'll put my shutter on 5-10 seconds, and click the shutter every 15. I'll end up with 2-300 completely black pictures after (and some dead batteries) but its easier to catch a strike or 2. Also about the long shutter time......you risk the chance of more noise but if you land a good strike....it should provide enough light for a good exposure. Thats my technique anyway. |

nice job, mihai. The second photo is pretty nice! How about using the bulb-mode of the camera? And just cover the lens with something between the strikes? |

hihi I just...clicked away...got lucky I guess. I tried a long exposure...but it came out so noisy it was useles...and I felt kinda bad because there were two strokes in it. It was a good storm though... I have this "multiple shots" feature that takes 16 pics in fast mode. but they're crap...very small. I guess some things are better done "the old way" hihi. At least with a film camera you know you're going to get exposure the moment you press the button. EDIT= minse we posted at the same time I didn't think about covering the objective...yeah - well - next storm Good idea - thanks |

Nice job, getting lightning alone is hard, but you did it, and even made it look purrty. Ha. Nice job :D |
