light for the side windows?

Yeah, your def. going to need a gradient in the windows. You could follow the orig. pic and do a white gradient....though i think a dark one (like tinted windows) would look much better. It would match the front window and not distract from the paint. Also the paint on the orig car is very bright.....unlike the new paint so you would want to keep the amount of light consistent.

Also for more realism, try adding a hard edged "inner shadow" to the side windows. It'll give the windows a little more depth.

I think the biggest problem area is the right front corner.......because 1) its too dark and 2) because its so dark.....there's no defenition in shapes etc. If you could just lighten it a bit it would look good. Look at the orig pic.....see how there's a few highlights and some soft lighting around the bumper and under the car? You just need a little bit of that. Just enough to define the shapes there (right now it looks like nothings there...its like a black hole)

Also how are you selecting? Reason i ask is the edges look a little bumpy. If you werent using the pen....then you'd def. benefit from the pens smooth curves. If you are using the pen......then you'd want less anchor points and longer curves.

Overall though...pretty nice. Great idea too!!

Welcome!

Thanks for the welcome, and the advice.

I select using the polygon lasso.

I'll post some of my other work shortly.

That's pretty cool. Where do I buy one? ;)

I definately recommend that you use the pen tool instead of the polygonal lasso.
