New to the forums - First Picture here

Hey there guys. Ive been looking at all the great things everyone has been doing on this site for a long time. I even have some heros ;) But here I have some thing that I made a few days ago... I was wondering what I could do to make it better. The site that hosted it, resized it...It was originally 8'' X 11''. Im sorta into the band thrice, for your info.

Here you go. Tell me what you think.

Well for starters its got great atmosphere!

One thing i think its lacking though..maybe the most important thing....is contrast. Now too much contrast would almost kill the mood, but a for an interesting composition you need differences in value and your image is fairly even throughout. Just tweak it a bit...and it should be ok.

Now I like the text, but there's 2 problems with it. The first......its just about centered. A centered composition is boring ( ie your eyes go right to the center....there's no looking around or 'exploring' the image). Also you have a lot of empty space that you havent taken advantage of. My second problem, is the letters are fairly tight. The font is small with thick letters/minimal spacing/various shades and even a background behind the letters. Thats a lot of stuff going on in a one small area. Maybe adjust the tracking to let them breathe a little......or possible find a new position for them.

Also being an album cover.....i wouldnt mind seeing more images/elements.....like a bar code, parental warning, "feature the new single *****" kinda text....the usual cover addons. But thats just a suggestion....not a crit.

I LIKE IT! But I'm a little dark myself. I love the trees, throw in some black light paint and I'll hang it on my wall.

Well, I was thinking the text was a little crammed in myself. I wanted to spread it our, randomly throughout the picture, but it looked weird. Im going to mess with the contast, and the text, then post a new one soon. Thanks for the comments so far. Any more would be great too :D

What do you mean by that? I dont get what you mean by black light paint.

I originally was going to make it an album cover, but then i got lazy and finally just decided to make it about one song: two awake and avenge the dead. But I could do that stuff. It still sounds like a good idea.
