Another Custom Desktop

Im not sure if im going to use it though. But its only active desktop, so i can delete it whenever (no shell switching etc.)

The "active items" is actually a modified taskbar. I installed a .dll that hides the taskbar, gets the open apps and displays them with css...which is clickable etc.

The weather and IP are both run by xml (updated every 3 hours).

Also Quick Paste is just a html form (not a cool program or anything.) I usually have some text to c/p and store for a few minutes..... and i usually open notepad to do that so the form solves that. I could use php to save it...so id have a full text editor....but that may be overkill lol.

That's really nice rodder. I really like all the details..like how you spelt files with a z :p
But really, that's damn slick.

I've been thinking about doing something similar myself. Does is slow down performance at all?

It shouldnt. It used to, and for a while it was frowned upon because of that, but these days most computers are too fast for it to cause any problem. All it is just html and css(or however you make it). Only if you used a heavy flash file as the entire desktop....would it slow down a bit.

Before the desktop:

175112k of RAM free
67% Resources

After Desktop:

172498k of RAM free
67% Resources

Thats barely a dent. Anything running would take atleast a few mb's.

The beauty of it is you can just turn it off whenever you want and everything goes back to normal.

(also thats not my IP. its changed since then :D )
