hey guys... i left my new computer at uni with illustrator etc on it so i've been playing around (i say 'playing' it took me ages.) on my old computer here at home and came up with this picture of myself, all i used was the polygonal lasso tool & fill. (oh and a slight noise filter on the eyes) :X http://mysite.freeserve.com/mpe/me.jpg |

thats pretty good. GJ. Id almost like to see a little more detail like some darker areas for the ear....or a little more definition on the top lip or the lower left side of the face.......but im not sure what look you were looking for (realistic vs. minimal etc). Otherwise though, its pretty good. |

I think it looks really good, but I agree with rodder... some areas may be under-detailed unless you were going for that affect. I really like it though either way man. Nice work :D |

looks nice. the eyes came out a bit weird but i know that's one difficult area to work with. it's very interesting how you've acheived an almost glossy look with too much white on some of the fills. nice job though. would have been nice if you had a vector version of that.

cheers guys, yeah rodder i was trying to stick to 3 shades of one colour and keep it realistic by being so detailed as to where the light was, used another shade for the shadow under the cap and didnt really want to push it much further (ie more of a red on the lips) thanks again keep me posted with any more improvements etc |

hey emptyspace, welcome back :D Good job on the pic. Maybe try doing some more color variations / shading on the scarf/jacket? otherwise it looks pretty good. I think it looks pretty pale lol :D anyway, good job... and if you used a reference picture, could we see it? and oh yeah, just because you only have photoshop doesnt mean you can't do vectors... (pen tool) :D |

*does the Welcome back Emptyspace/nice work dance* I really like it! The only thing that you might work some more on is the eyes imo. Other than that I don't see much wrong with it. I think it's much easier working with illustrator when it comes to shapes. When I use the pen tool in photoshop it always becomes a bit jagged. But I see that you have been able to get that great. |
