I think your idea of trendwhoring is different than mine, this style of abstract is no longer in vogue, so if you are wanting to be "of the moment" then abstracts like this are not where it's at. Don't get me wrong I am a fan of abstract art such as this and have produced numerous pieces myself, I know my interest in this form was sparked by Joost Korngold. At the end of the day we are all guilty of being derivative in some form or other, what bothers me about trendwhoring is that you (we) are blatantly aiming to emulate rather than innovate. No concept is not without some reflection of the current 'style' but even some attempt to skew the current vogue is more desirable than a direct emulation. As for your abstract, the pink is a little lurid, but that's not uncommon in this kind of work. You need to use layer blending a little more effectively, some of your elements are a little pronounced which leads to overkill on the eye. Don't be afraid to mask out huge areas of your render, duplicate them rotate them, mask them some more, apply blend modes.... The stars in the background would look better if you had them on their own layer or on the background layer. At the moment the layer blend renders them unconvincing. Whilst I have been so negative (hey, you don't need your back patted;)) I actually like the abstract, just that it is a little of yesterday, but if it floats your boat then go for it and forge yourself a style in the genre. |

where's the whore? kidding. yours is actually a bit different. you're mixing the crystals with the techno waves which is cool and everything doesn't look like it's traveling at speeds that will knock a viewer out of their seat. i think there may be a bit much of that dust and i'm not sure if i'm digging the purple. you could try incorporating some nice typography into this one to make it a more interesting composition. |

looks pretty good for a trend explosion, perhaps the centre of light could be more even leans to the left slightly too much perhaps a light beam or two on the right x |

i Think That It Could Use A little More Detail like On The Render Where It Is All Jaggedy And OCuld Use Smoothing.

its not bad, I like the concept. over all its fairly good, but I think your rendering could have been much more smoother, some of it seems chunky.. and it also looks like you just renedered a bunch of things and put them all together and colored it up, which is a great way of learning. But I found that it needs more of a theme.. and please don't take this the wrong way, anyone who takes the time to take on 3D is definately to be commended, because I can't do it for crap. Hopefully we can see more stuff from you soon And welcome aboard! |
