New to PS

As the title says, I'm new to Photoshop but been picking up things here and there. I had a friend help me out and teach me the basics but I'm still pretty lacking in skills. I've gotten pretty good at cutting images out and combining them but I can't make anything original. Any advice?

I want to make stuff like the splashes on the homepage but don't know where to start. Any advice or feedback would be appreciated!

siggy & the other one are huge for sigs! as so is your sig at the moment. . .
on ur blend im gussing render clouds and screen ? , its not bad , but u need to change the font, and exnay on the bevel
