book illustrations

I'm starting a new children's picture book. It looks like there will be about 40 plus illustrations in it. These are the first three, all done in Photoshop.

I love them. Looks very danish for some reason. Probably the birch trees ... :D Just make sure theres a good story, too. Many people think that childrens books dont have to be written well because they're for children, but thats the wrong way of looking at it. :D Good luck.

edit: oh, I forgot a question: When you do something like this, do you sketch it out on paper first? If so, is it sketchy? or do you try to make it as complete as possible?

eyewoo! I love em'... nice work man. They look really great. I like where this book is going I think. Good plot from what i gather from the images/illustrations. Keep us updated one this one ;)

snivlem... I do all the intial sketching with a Wacom tablet and Photoshop... With this particular style, it is important to get the line drawing pretty well worked out before the color is added.
