i need to do a poster for my portfolio class that's due on thursday and the topic is open. i've decided to do somewhat of a self promo thing and came up with this so far >>rough stage<<. i have no idea where i'm going with this and i don't think i even like it honestly. anyone have suggestions?

Well....the main problem is its dead center which = no composition/visually boring.

If your going for self promo...then why not ditch the 99 vector kranes (even though its your signature[not forum signature lol]) and play with the idea of just one? Self=1...which really would make more sense design wise. I like the white/black outline (circle/arrow) so im thinking maybe you can outline a single krane like that (no yellow/gray)..and make it large so you can design around it. Also because its your "signature" you could use yellow and gray colors else where (text/bg/etc).

Also think about the word promo. What makes a good promotional piece? What message do u want to send? What do you have to offer? Who are you? Your krane. But that doesnt mean much. who is krane? dig down and try to add those elements into the poster.

To tell you the truth....i didnt pick up on that until you said it. What if you took the colors and put them in bars along the left edge....like (i dont know the name of it) when you get a set of proofs from a printer with the palette printed along the edge??

oooohh, that might be something to think about. you mean like the spot color marks that are found on the flaps of cereal boxes and such? nice idea, might not have the same effect but worth a try.
