Some of the text is hard to read. Is the black border a rich black or a flat black? I would suggest rich black otherwise its going to look like crap. I also wouldn't set the type in Photoshop. The small print is gonna look horrible. The ad certainly looks like something out of a car mag, so I think it is succesful. Definately is going to catch a lot of young peoples eyes. Just make sure that you don't have anymore then 300% ink coverage on this thing. You may be close in areas. It looks like some of the black spots are going to plug. |

On that black border, nevermind that, thats just set for the bleed and trim. Also, I don't know if this matters, but the ad is done at 300dpi and its like 7x10 inches. So would the type still get screwed up ? |

You realize you only need .125" of bleed right? I assumed that some of that back is gonna show for the border. Either way, if its just 100% K, then its not going to look very good. For some of that type, it's just not the smartest thing to flatten it. Instead of the printer recognizing it as a font, its just seeing a small splash of black. Now if the plates are slightly mis-registered, that type is going to look horrible. Granted, this can happen with a font, but there are less issues with legibility if its its own path.

Well this is just a pic of the ad, not the original file or anything. Plus, the bleed specs is from what they gave us, the rest of the designs is behind the black piece,I just put the black over it so the customer can see what the main ad looks like.So the black will not be in the ad or anything at all. Nothing is flattened, however, in the magazine, his last ad was done in photoshop, and everything still printed without a problem. Are there possibly other methods out there for printning? Cause I have even done another magazine ad that was 1/4 of a page in photoshop with no problem. Also I did this all in CMYK. |

The only thing I see wrong is they your "Kutting Edge" logo and link are huge. Maybe half that size logo with just the weblink in the bottom left corner would do it.
