The first one is alright, looks like it's just a crapload of filters though. Not really my style.

That second one is really good. He should get Illustrator and a Wacom tablet.

That sketch is really nice, although i dont like the head. I think that the sides of the head don't have to come out to be as wide, or maybe it's the hair. The hair needs to be poofier, anyway. i mean, coming out from the head. Because right now, if you were to draw the guideline circle of the head, you'd notice that the hair is hugging the guideline, which is bad.
