i need some help

hey i need some help i want to know how tom make little graphic's look ruff or old like i dont really know how to explain it but i think you know what i mean. for example somthing like this:

and give it a effect like this:

as you can see the aged look on the photo... other then going and downloading a font that has the aged effect (which i dont want to do) is there any other way i can get that aged effect???

srry about the first file it's *ARGE* and if when you click on the link it takes you to geocities.com then but a space at the end of the address then hit enter..

hmmm??? well anyways.. someone told me to use my eraser tool and just hange the brush which was so easy i dont know why i didnt think of that in the first place... but this is my first time with this "aged" effect so how is it?

Okay, what these guys are trying to say is that it's a really bad idea to use straight up red with straight up blue on black. Tone it down with some darker reds and browns, think World War II colors with low saturation. Get the color combo right and your effect will be achieved.

eh. yeah.

there are several ways to make the 'grunge' look. Back before it was trendy and cool to use that style, there were some great resources for it. Then everyone started doing it.

One way is to find some grungy brushes and fonts - purists will call this the lazy mans way of making dirty art. Sometimes, I agree. Like when the person over-uses the brush.

The other way is to play with the default filters that come in photoshop. Also, use the paint brush and eraser tool a bit. Doodle with it. There are some great font faces that go with the style, all of which I have deleted. Try Times New Roman or some other serif typeface. They work just as well.

Second, definatly cut down on the contrast. In your psd file, just desaturate those layers a bit. Play with hue and saturation. Darker reds are definatly a bit more functional with that style.
