I like the sketch and the actual coloring but I'm not sure about the colors themselves. Purple and yellow? What kind of thing is this?

your attempt is great

id suggest re-trace the drawing using the Pen Tool for smooth lines and edges and color from there...

Lol, ignore trhaynes, good drawing and all, did you use airbrush as well? By the way, I think there's a software better for sketching and coloring then photoshop, called painter 7 or something, can't quiet remember, I heard it works wonder with the wacom drawing tablet.
