You have the same problem with web design that I do. Too much open space, even if it is a certain color. I've gotten around that by using gradients, as well as random pictures with gradient overlays (dark red to light red) and then Brightness/Contrast until it looks good. Either that or you can go for a more technical feel and add lines and small text and glows and shapes, which I'm no good at. Like for a blue site, I used a picture of clouds I took. And for a black/grey one I used a picture of ripples on water with a gradient overlay (black to grey) and it looked alright. Also, try not to get caught up in the layer styles when you're making a header. Maybe make a good logo and then just write your title in an appropriate font, with one style, like drop shadow or a small stroke. But all of that is just my opinion - the layout looks good. Three things I would suggest is to: add a bar at the bottom, too, with your name and Copyright and the links again. Number two - make the font smaller. And numero tres - center those links. Also your sig is a little on the tall site but I'm not really complaining, just pointing it out. tom |
