some new art

These are two things I just finished. I plan to make a page in the near future.
I'd appreciate any crits about the style/comp/compression(i have no idea)/thoughts...

This is just some photoshop thing (more of a wallpaper than a page at this point)(the text is just out of curiosity to see how it would look)

It looks to me like you used lighting effects on those tentacles, which is fine, but after you use lighting effects, you should select the layer(s) (CTRL-click the layer thumbnail) and gaussian blur a little so the levels aren't there and the transistion from the different color shades isn't as pixelly. I like it though. One more thing I would say is that unless your button/splash page is going to have something added to it, I would take it out. The rule I follow is that all splash pages are bad unless they add something to the site. Like choosing CSS/No CSS, Frames/No Frames, Flash/No Flash, Images/Text-Only, Language, or a choice of several different pages made by the same person. Good splash graphic though. Maybe it can be of some use sometime.

I say, take the tentacles and light them on fire. Then place them in a large glad bag and stick the whole thing into a treasure chest. Wrap chains around the treasure chest and lock them together. Swallow the key. Now load the chest onto a helicopter and take off. Hover a couple of feet over the Marianas trench. Now drop the chest into the water. Now hijack several atomic weapons and buy a space shuttle. Take off, and once safely outside of explosion/radiation distance, launch the nuclear weapons at strategic targets at the earth, and destroy it.


Might seem a bit (ok, a lot) overexaggerated, but I'm just trying to make a point - those tentacles are overdone :/

The 2nd one is very nice, just don't use the Led Zeppelin text :D It just doesn't fit the theme.
