My newest piece. Looks somewhat like a magazine ad. I really wanted to go for a "clean style". Almost reminds me of an operating room for some reason( its mostly cause of the blood in the image...)...but kinda like how alot goes on in the room yet everything is spotless and shiny. It was also a chance to play with a little masking, something which i rarely use unless its quickmask lol. It seems like an "angry" piece...but really isnt meant to be. Anyway crits are always welcome :-)

Wow, I really like that.

The text on the right side creates depth, the jar a 3d look, and the drops a little grungy. Nice peice.

I would lose the scale on the jar... looks fake and doesnt fit.

"I would lose the scale on the jar... looks fake and doesnt fit"

Yeah I was kinda afraid of that. I wanted to try and make it more medical looking. I originally tried spherize..maybe paint over it a little so it looked like it was "printed" on the glass but didnt work. I also wanted to use diff. words (not low medium high) but something with a little more meaning. It was a last effort to finish off the image so no biggie.

Out of making this whole image.....i have to say taking the photos was a boat load of fun!! (well fun until i got paint on the lens of my really expensive camera....that sucked!!!!)

Anyway thanx for the feedback!!

Try taking the scale layer, pressing ctrl-t (for transform), then right clicking and choosing perspective and playing around with it a bit.

I think it'll help.

Then set the layer mode to overlay or something, or change the opacity, or both.

Perspective might help. Actually I have it on hard light(im not sure why lol) @ 58% right now. I cant use any other mode (except darken) cause half the scale is over white.....

Actually one thing thats buggin me about it is it doesnt look used. If it was a real scale...the ink would be somewhat worn off the front of the jar from all the handling. So maybe if i age it a bit...then take down the opacity more.

Im going to do a little research on googles image search and maybe see how it can be fixed.

Thnx for the help :-)

edit: I love good ideas!!! I could probably get away with photographing my mothers measuring cups lol

looks quite good but...

- the blood looks kind of jelly
- the scale on the bottle doesn't fit. it seems to fly over it
- there some white parts in the blood up left. i think it sould be a glow but it looks like pixel-errors

Yeah those are the highlights. When I took the photo it came out to dark...and then my batteries died in the proccess so I just had to keep the image and try to work with it. Trying to make it work it ended up being very pixelated so ive been trying to soften it with the blur tool. I'll fix the errors and upload a fresh copy soon. I may even try to take another photo or 2..see if i can make it better.

anyway thnx for the help!

Updated:

The blood splatter on the left I removed from the image....copied over the original image and re-edited it.

I re-photographed the blood in the jar. Instead of paint & water I used vegitable oil, red & blue paint and some soap for more texture (i searched the net for instructions on how to make fake blood lol)

The scale I removed then photographed a measuring cup. Turns out the ink was worn off the front (the exact effect i wanted) and the scale is in mililiters.

Did a little color correcting and cleaned up the jar a bit.

Also I added a very faint highlight on the front of the jar (top of the scale) to give it the "glass" look.

Original image on top/Updated version on bottom.

Which text?

The text on the left....i want times new roman. Give it a classy style and it's meant to be read. The text on the right I went with arial bold because its more of a visual element than anything else. It needs to be thick lettering to offset the jar.
