Something I just came up with. Any feedback would be great. The idea behind this image....well actually is open to interpretation. Since X is a variable it could mean anything to ayone looking at it. Its personal meaning for me is how what society sees as bad or wrong....we go along with. Deep down we may not agree but we put on a "front" as if we did so we can blend back in and not be seen as an outcast or racist or (insert other words here) etc. Its kind of like the idea of being "PC". Im extremely anti-pc but outside of the home i dont show it. The mood in the image is trying to show how society is kind of killing free speech...or being able to think freely without being judged kind of thing. Somewhat war inspired too(ive been watching the news as i make this). Hopefully that made sense to someone lol

This image could probably use more work. But I kind of like it where it is. The white space i think is great and i dont want to go down the road of making it to dirty. No brushes were used xcept for when i ctrl clicked the text. I needed to add a little variation in the letters (before they were a flat gray)

ps - Sorry about Geocities hosting......it was a quick solution. The image is only 34k......so hopefully it wont get bogged down.

The text is interesting. Simple, yet makes sense when you think about it. It's a bit too simetrical for me. With "X" meaning so many things, why make the image so organized (lack of a better word). Otherwise, its just grunge, nothing more you can say on the style. Either its good or its bad. This isnt bad :P.

The grunginess is definately good, so is the text and the monochromatic color scheme. Great job. Needs a border though.

Damn geocities!! sorry bout that..... the red x must be from the mb limit. Does anyone know if its possible to hotlink off imagestation?? I had a boomspeed acc. but it got deleted (probably from lack of use)

Thank for the replys. As to

"It's a bit too simetrical for me. With "X" meaning so many things, why make the image so organized (lack of a better word)"

I was going for repetition of the X. I wanted a kind of harsh feel to the images and what better way (in my mind) to represent that feeling than with those long sharp looking streaks. Also diagonal lines (in this instance) create a bit of uneasiness to get the point across. But i totally agree...with an open subject such as a "variable" I could have done a million and one things with it. I actually want to make like a second version of this. Maybe introduce some color and give it a "Good" feeling.

When I started this....i totally didnt want to go the grunge route (thats why i didnt use brushes) but the way the photos i used came together it just worked. Also the color scheme was used cause i wanted to repeat the idea of 2 contrasting objects....meaning society vs. personal, x is good vs. x is bad, black vs. white u get the idea.

"Needs a border though."

Absolutely!! It just bleeds of the page now that i look at it....it looks ugly lol

Geocities do suck ass, and they don't allow remote linking which is what we all do here.

To see the pic:

1. Copy and paste the link into the address bar
2. Delete the "http://www." part
3. Press enter
4. Enjoy!

thnx for clearing that up Malevolent_Jester. I just checked a few hours ago to find out its a TOS violation (like i care lol). I used to be able to do it.....but that was a long time ago i guess. I could just put it on a blank page but I still gotta deal with the bandwidth cap (grrrr). Also boomspeed.com has suspened new user sign up (ugh). I cant wait til i buy a domain. Things would be much easier.

Anyway sorry bout the inconvenience :-)
