Hey, this is my first post. I'm not sure why I'm putting it up, because it's not really a good depiction of what I can do. I'm only drawing attention to it cuz it's the only thing I've got online right now. small splash I've got an improvement on it in the works, so I'll be putting up a new post soon. C & C welcome |

The outer glow on the email address looks very amateur. Theres no need to do that to type. Also, the text in the image is sort of hard to read because of the reflective white on the image. Also, use different weights with that font. Again, quite amateur to use the same weight through out the text there. It may be my screen, but the logo is really jagged. Thats a problem. The colour is nice though. Same with the composition of the photo. I think you need to simplify this alot to make it more effective. I think you may have got a little trigger happy with your layer effects.

Yeah, the web aspect was all done by someone else. I just did the image. And I have been working on the reflectivity mess that you mentioned. The final should work a little more coherently. Thanks for the input.

Welcome to the board. My two cents: Spectra already mentioned the weight of the font, so... I find it kindof irritating that the image has got that semi-border thing going on, either have no border at all, or better yet make a nice subtle one pixel border to show where it starts and where it ends, you know? And yeah, what's with the white cloudy feather thingies? They don't serve a purpose, so I'd lose them all together. The adress is pretty much unreadable IMHO, I'd skip the deep dropshadow effects and make it more clear. I'd also not overlay the text-boxes onto the photo-elements of the picture. Another thing is the composition, I really dislike looking at images that have all elements aligned this randomly. Make a common margin for the content. Now I understand that the coding and positioning of stuff on the splash page wasn't up to you, but I don't think that the logo needs to be both separately (and damn jaggy) AND on the image you created. Green is a nice color, even though I'm sure that that's the color of the school, no? Well, anywhoo, welcome to the forums. |

Ok, Here's the New Version. It should be posted by this time. Paavo' s response was well taken, but I, and the people I'm doing the project with kinda like the randonness of the composition. You'll see that several images have been added, but the res sucks 'cuz we built it to show on an 800 x 600 display. Eventually, we'll slice the pic to link to different parts of the page. Yeah, sorry spectra, but the outer glow has to stay for now. I know, I know. I don't like it either, but whaddya gonna do? Ok, thanks again.
