I like em both! I like the lighting on the tomato. The composition on the landscape bothers me a bit though. The clump of trees in the background are almost smack in the middle of the painting, and the post sticks up in almost the same place and is very dark and prominent and really yanks on the veiwers eye distracting from the rest. If it were me, I'd try to fix that, also the trees I just spoke of in the background are hard to read, at first I wasn't sure what they were, kinda looked like smudges in the paint. Easily fixed with some shadows, and a little detail work. also the lines in the fence are a bit harsh. also, it's a bit hard to read the clumpy grass/shrubs on the left of the pic. it might help if you would define the lightsource a bit more. Other than that, Love the tree and the grass, kinda looks like you spent time on that and then gave up a bit on the background. (sounds like me) Good work though! I hope I wasn't out of line with my crits. I wasn't sure if you wanted any or not, so I gave em! I hope they help. |
