My friend got me into Linux this weekend. I have it installed on my crappy extra computer. The sig is an extreme exaggeration of when I first tried it on my own. (took me 15min to mount cdrom :o )I'm still getting used to it, but I like it so far.

Make life a little easier on yourself. Seriously. If you are serious about using Linux, just edit your /etc/fstab file to auto-mount the cdrom when anything is inserted into it. If you are using RedHat, this should already occur. Some older versions of not-so-popular *nix's do not automount and you need to edit the file. For the newbie in you... http://www.tldp.org/LDP/lfs/LFS/chapter08/fstab.html or you could write yourself a little mount/unmount script. http://home.nyc.rr.com/computertaijutsu/scripts.html Check that out for a little helpful info. |
