Illustrator bg color

Ok, minor question here, but its something that is really bothering me. In photoshop and other programs you can change the default background color, either in the program itself or by changing your desktop settings. Now in illustrator I have yet to find an option to di this, is it possible? My eyes always go into shock from working on one program then jumoing to illustrator.

No can do....at least not on the Mac.

Windows? Probably not possible there, either.
