I'm using Dreamweaver MX to make a webpage which i wanna do using css instead of tables... (just to learn about how and such) anyways... as i laid it out it slow started looking like crap in DW, but then the preview in IE was great.. i've attached a screenshot to illustrate the idea here Is it a fact that DW does process css at all in its "preview panel" or what... it kinda sucks not being able to see the effects of changes quickly and having to preview it each time in IE. btw the site is http://home.san.rr.com/ojc in case the screen shot sucks |

Dreamweaver does not support a lot of CSS and stuff. So you won't get an acurate preview in dreamweaver. Just test it on IE and Opera and Netscape while you develop it.

yeah i defined a site, and yes, its linked css, well, the css for positioning is inline... btw, can you link positioning css (i.e. #main {width etc etc etc} #main #body {width blah float:right etc.} ) |

You want to create a seperate file and code all of your css there. Then link it to the page. It should show the resulting css in DW, that is what I am trying to figure out. It may not work for positioning though. But I think it does.

i know the pages are properly linked b/c they format on the web and in previews and i can edit the style from the design>>css styles panel... i was just wondering why it wasn't formating in the preview pane, deker really asnered my question, DW doesn't process css in the preview pane (from within the DW application) very well

Even if DW showed you a good example of what it *might* look like, there is no substitute for actually testing it in the browser. Preferably test in Netscape, Opera and if you must IE. |
