does anyone know the function in actionscript to close the clip or movie?

Little more info needed....are you talking about quitting a main .swf? If so, all you have to do is slap a getUrl actionscript on a button or your timeline linking to your new page. You can't put in a script which will get rid of your flash content so you're left with HTML (or similar script) all in the one page. i.e no self destruct

There is an

unloadMovie()

function. I would maybe go to Macromedia's site and download the pdf ActionScript Dictionary. Its free and could possibly answer your question.
