I am working on a flash portfolio and I have a question for you guys/gals. On www.2advanced.com, on their portfolio page when you click one of their web sites some screen shots/thumbnails load to the right. My question is when those screen shots/thumbnails load are they seperate movies loading or is everything within the same movie? Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

MC = movie clip... They could be seperate movies loading in, or MC(s) within the same movie, it all depends. If the movie(s) file size(s) are large you might want to load them as they are needed, instead of trying to load everything at once, this way you keep download times to a minimum. |

2A have a generic preloader for each external MC being loaded in. In the case of the loading boxes, it's a matter of having several external MC's being loaded into another main MC. Make sense?

sort of...the problem I have when trying to load an external movie clip is...it replaces everything in the main movie clip not just the small section I want it to...I'm not sure if that makes sense to you guys or not...?

yup, it does. in your load movie clip options you'll see an option for "levels", think of them like layers. load your mc in a layer that's not level 0 (like 1 or 2 or 5 or whatever) and everything should be cool. chris |
