help with this effect

On this site I was wondering how they did the effect on the navigation at the top? When you mouse over 'footware', 'apparel' and those words a color fades in behind them. I was wondering if someone could help me out with the effect? Are the words done in Flash or are they imported as images? Any other help you could provide would be great.

It's a button with a movie clip of a radial gradient under the text. On mouseOver the movie clip fades in and then fades out when the mouse moves off the button.

Any chance you could walk me through it step by step? I'm pretty new to all this flash stuff.
