I am working in PS 7 OS 10.1.5. I have a file that was working on, saving as I went along. I closed the file and when I tried to reopen it, the file would not open. I get a message ... File can not be opened because of a program error... any suggestions??? Thanks

Yeah, that happens to me too. I dont think its really a problem with Photoshop though. I think my computer has some serious problems going on. I think it stems from me having a cable internet connection and being connected all the time, and downloading stuff from file sharing programs....maybe a virus of some sort...i dont know. But now I got my internet shut off, and every time I restart my computer a little message pops up saying that my computer has recovered from a major error.....and i have to be sure to save my Photoshop work ever minute or so if i dont want to lose everything....it sucks. |

The overwhelming majority of the time you can trash the Photoshop prefs file and clear up nagging problems related to the application itself. You might try that. To me though it sounds like you have a corrupt file on your hands. There are several ways to attempt to recover some or all of the file if it is in fact a corrupt file. nothing is fool proof though. If you want to upload the .psd file somewhere, I'm sure myself and some others will attempt to help you recover the file. |

Yup i had Kazaa....and i didnt know about spyware until after i had already had it for a long time...so, I figure that is probably the problem right? Anyone know how to combat the damage that kazaa does? I uninstalled the extra programs that kazaa gives you automaticly already, but still have problems.

Here are a few great sites for fine tuning your precious machine =) http://www.annoyances.org/ - microsoft windows stuff.... a simple google search found this site: http://www.gibboncore.demon.co.uk/kazaaspyware/kazaaspywarehell.htm Also, I am not sure, but discussing the shareware issue on the forums might make Pank shut this thread down.... not sure, but I'm guessing. |

I have been on the phone with Adobe support and have seemed to stump them. They are aware of some problems in PS7 like using a pattern overlay. If you create a file in 6 with an overlay then open and save in 7, you will be unable to open the file in 6 or 7. I was reassured that this was a photoshop issue not an OSX issue. I guess I will just wait fo rthe 7.0.1 update which I believe will be released soon. Thanks to all for all of your help!!!!!
