Hi, I'm trying to apply a stroke to a line that I drew with the pen tool however afterwards when I go into the paths pallete I don't get the option "Stroke Path", it's just greyed out. It shows my line as "Shape 1 Vector Mask". Can someone point me in the right direction please? Thanks in advance Rachel |

Rachel, In PS 6 (not sure about seven-but should be similar) you can go to the paths pallet and choose to 'make path a selection' then it gives you those moving ants. The icon for that is a little circle outlined in dashes. Good luck! |

Rats and double rats Well, I get to the point with the "moving ants" (never thought of it like that!) but still no stroke menu :( |

once you get the ants, go under the edit menu and choose stroke.

Thanks for the help, however Stroke is still greyed out, I'm not so sure it should be a vector mask? (could be wrong!). From scratch here's what I'm doing. Create a new document in RGB mode. Add a new layer. Draw my line with the pen tool, go to the path palette which shows my line as Shape 1 vector mask...Then I did the first suggestion till I got the ants

Maybe make a new layer and make sure that is the layer you are working on, the 'ants' (that was a Pank ism, thought it was pretty funny way to think about those things.) the ant's will still be selected and stroke on that new layer. That should work. |

OK here's what's up: just before you draw your selection, click off vector shapes (top left corner in menu bar, just under 'Image') and click the little tiny box next to it called 'paths' I believe. It's going to allow the old-school way to use the pen and stroke works just fine. good question! |

Thank you! Clicking the "Paths" box worked perfectly. Now I can rest easy after spending two days trying to get it working. hihi |
