 When creating the first new layer via copy in Ph6, it is always locked to the background layer. A small but inconvenient feature. Can this be disabled in any way?

Someone here probably knows how to do it...i dont. To get rid of it, just duplicate the layer and dump the original.

why are you doing a layer via copy? rather, just make a new layer, it won't be locked. Or, select all, copy & paste. if you must do a layer via copy, first, double click on your background layer to make it say 'Layer 0" - then it becomes a regular layer. You should be able to copy it just fine without a lock on it. good luck- gg |

I habitually create new layers using apple-J, 'suppose creating new layers using shift-apple-N will do the trick. Cheers, K.

"apple - J" kicks ass, I realize... tough habit to break. I just drag the layer I want to copy over the :newlayer: at the bottom of the layer palette. baby steps...baby steps... :D |

If you're working on an image, and only later realise that the layer is locked, do the thing i said any time during your image. It's no different from what graphics guy said really.. control-j lifts the selection from that layer onto a clean one. So make sure you go, control-a and then, control-j

The Backgrond layer is a special type of layer and it cant be moved... But there is a few trick.... When you crete a new file... In the bottom of the window you get option for original content... White (Default) Backgrond color (Use the backgrond color of the tool palette (good if you want a black or colored backgrond) Transparent (there is no backgrond If you select the tranparent option your original layer will be named (layer 1)this not a backgrond... so it can be moved If you want to move the CONTENT of a backgrond layer make a Ful selection (Select --- all) and use the move tool! Hope ths helped you.... |
