What is linking layers? |

that "8" says its to link a layer..what does exactly that mean?

The link would enable you to move and transform what ever is in each layer that is linked together.

Yeah, it makes layers stay where you put them relative to each other. Like if you were making a button. You can have every part of the button on seperate layers, then link them together so if you move any part of that button everything associated with that button moves as well. Like !mo0chan! said. |

Another use of linking layer... Oce you have linked layers you get the option to merge them (in the lyer menu (the one on the pallet) you nomraly have a few option like flattens (Merge all layers) and Merge visible (Merge all visible layers...and once you haver linked layer you get the Merge link options... If you wonder on how the like layer here the trick... In the layer palette yyou will se two square nest to the leyr name (one is for visble and the other is for link)... Just select a leyer then click ont the link box of all the layer you wish to link... If you wish to broke the likc click on the 8 to unlink The little 8 tell you with wich layer you active layer is linked... |
