Select the areas where you'd guess there would be light, feather the selection, and then adjust the brightness/contrast or levels, even hue/saturation if you want a golden sort of luck.

Well this isn't REALLY what you are asking for but I think it might help you along if you wanted to try this. It is a tutorial I was doing a while back and haven't got around to finishing.

Lets get started:

I'm using the default sample .tif file that ships with photoshop called "Dune.tif"

We're going to make some sunrays coming out of that opening in the clouds.

start by making a rectangle selection with the rectangle selection tool.

Now lets right click inside the selection (ctr+click on a mac) and select "transformselection"

Now right click again inside the selection (ctr+click on a mac) ans choose "skew"

click on the upper left "node" on the transform bounding box and drag it down to the bottom left "node" to make your selection a triangle. Hit enter.

Now fill your triangle selection with a light color (I used white) reduce the layer's opacity down to about 30% or so. Now CTR+D to deselect and do a guassian blur on the layer to soften the edges.... (I used a setting of like 9)

Now I just duplicate my sunray and positions a couple of them, do a little masking and taaaahdahhhh.... Sunrays!

Actually, I have a cropped image of a man. I am placing it in picture of a park on a sunny day. The sun is coming down from the upper left corner of the picture. I'm trying to correctly shade his face and body.
